4 Effective Steps to Get Back Formatted Windows Data and Files

Data loss is a common problem that many modern businesses are facing and spending millions of dollars per year to recover. The most common reasons behind data loss is a mechanically failed hard drive, accidental file deletion or a formatted Windows partition. Everyone makes mistakes, but accidentally deleting or formatting files from Windows is the big one and may require a lot of your  precious time or good money to get them recovered.
However, if you have accidentally formatted some important files and don’t have a backup as well, there’s a great chance that formatted data will be recovered if you are using Windows OS.  But be careful and don’t try to save anymore data on the drive.
Below are some common reasons of why your Windows data might get deleted or formatted:

  • Blue Screen of Death(BSOD)
  • Formatted or Deleted Partitions
  • Physcial or Mechanical failed Hard Drive
  • Windows OS Corruption
  • Virus/malware Infection
  • Registry Corruption
  • Fire, flood or any other natural disasters
Steps to Undelete Windows Data:

Steps #1 : Stop Using Your Computer- After deleting any file(s), the space is marked as free and can be used to write something on a newly free spaces. So, you have to turn off your system immediately after file deletion due to any of the reasons above . The longer you run the system after file deletion, the higher the chance of your files get overwritten.

Steps #2: Use another computer- In order to avoid overwriting the deleted data, you have to follow the rest of the steps on another PC. To do this, you can remove the problem hard drive and attach it to the other one as a ‘slave’ drive. If the other computer is your laptop, you can use an external hard drive enclosure.

Steps #3: Download Data Recovery Software- You have to pay for any branded data recovery software somewhere between $50 to $500 to get back the data. If you think of yourself as a computer professional, you could try the software and recover data on your own. There are a list of software that can recover the data efficiently, but the best programs that I have worked with is Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery, which is very powerful and user friendly. In order to ensure  that you don’t waste your money, you can try the free demo which will shows the preview of any recoverable files and folders but won’t recover anything unless you buy the full version.

Steps #4: Follow The Instructions – Data recovery programs work unlike any other computer software. But Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is created using Do-It-Yourself (DIY) technology, so you don’t need to have any broad knowledge to operate the needed tasks.

In todays high tech world, there are very slim chance that your data’s gone forever unless the deleted data gets overwritten. However, if the data recovery programs didn’t find the deleted data, you can go with professional data recovery services which costs you more than any recovery program.
Try your luck with data recovery software and post any suggestions below.
